ChatGPT Just Became the New Google (Great for Business Owners, Lousy for Humans)

I thought we had till mid next year on this one, but I was wrong...

Hey Everyone.,

Saw something today that made me pause.

ChatGPT is now serving SHOPPING suggestions.

Right there in the interface.

"Shop smarter this season šŸ›ļø

Let ChatGPT do the digging for you, with in-depth research into the best deals and gifts."

And honestly?

This feels... familiar.

Remember when Google was actually HELPFUL?

Back in the late 90s, early 2000s...

Google was just a search engine.

Clean white page.

Search bar.

10 blue links.

That's IT.

No ads.

No sponsored results.

No "people also ask" boxes.

Just... the information you searched for.

It was PURE.

And it was USEFUL.

Then the ads started creeping in.

First just one or two at the top.

"Sponsored results."

Easy to ignore.

But then...

More ads.

And more.

Until eventually...

The ENTIRE upper fold became ads.

You'd have to scroll past 6-8 sponsored results...

Just to find what you actually SEARCHED for.

And now?

Google IS an ad platform.

That happens to have a search engine attached.

The "helpful tool" became a SALES MACHINE.

And ChatGPT is heading the SAME direction.

It STARTED as:

"A helpful AI assistant."

Something on YOUR side.

Finally, a tool that wasn't trying to sell you shit every 5 seconds.

But 3 days before Black Friday...

They drop THIS.

Shopping recommendations.

"Let ChatGPT find you deals!"

Yeah.

The writing's on the wall.

Here's what's coming:

Right now it's just:

"Shop smarter this season."

Sounds innocent enough.

But give it 6 months.

It'll be:

"Based on our conversation, you might like [product]..."

"I found a great solution for [problem you mentioned]..."

"Here's a deal on [thing that solves your issue]..."

All disguised as "being helpful."

When it's actually just...

Targeted advertising.

With better data than Google or Facebook ever had.

Because your AI KNOWS you.

What you care about.

What you're struggling with.

What keeps you up at 3 AM.

And now it's using that knowledge...

To sell you stuff.

From a BUSINESS perspective?

This is INCREDIBLE.

Imagine being able to advertise:

→ Inside someone's "personal AI assistant"
→ At the exact moment they're thinking about your solution
→ With messaging that feels like it's coming from a trusted advisor

That's not just good targeting.

That's MIND-READING level precision.

Your conversion rates would skyrocket.

If you're selling products or services...

This is the future you need to pay attention to.

And figure out how to leverage.

Before your competitors do.

But from a HUMAN perspective?

This feels gross.

The whole APPEAL of AI was:

"Finally, something that's on MY side."

"A tool that helps me think."

"Not another platform trying to extract money from me."

But now?

Even your AI has a sales quota.

Even your "helpful assistant" is monetized.

There's literally NOWHERE left...

That isn't trying to sell you something.

Not your social feed.

Not your search results.

Not even your private conversations with a chatbot.

Everything is commerce.

All the way down.

So is this a blessing or a curse?

Depends who you are.

Business owner?

Blessing.

This is a MASSIVE new channel.

With targeting capabilities that don't exist anywhere else.

Get ahead of it.

Figure out how to position your products in this new landscape.

Regular human?

Curse.

Because now even your "neutral helper"...

Has an agenda.

And you can't trust whether recommendations are REAL...

Or just paid placements.

The line between "helpful" and "sales pitch" just disappeared.

What do we do about it?

Honestly?

I don't know if we CAN do anything.

This is coming.

Whether we like it or not.

AI companies have to monetize.

And advertising is the path of least resistance.

So we're gonna see more of this.

A LOT more.

But here's what I DO know:

As business owners:

We need to understand this shift.

And figure out how to use it.

Not fight it.

As humans:

We need to stay AWARE.

Of when our "helpful AI" stops being helpful...

And starts being a commissioned salesperson.

Because the trust we've built with these tools?

That's exactly what makes them DANGEROUS.

When they start selling.

We won't even notice.

Because it'll FEEL like help.

When it's actually just... commerce.

Bottom line:

ChatGPT is becoming the new Google.

Helpful tool → Ad platform.

Great for business owners who know how to leverage it.

Shitty for humans who just wanted something on their side.

But it's happening.

So we better figure out:

→ How to use it (if we're selling)
→ How to protect ourselves from it (if we're buying)

Because AI commerce is here.

And it's only getting more sophisticated.

Welcome to the future.

P.S. If you're a business owner trying to figure out how AI fits into your sales strategy... or a human trying to not get manipulated by chatbots with sales quotas... I'm working on something that'll help. More coming soon.

P.P.S  Speaking of what's REALLY worth your attention this Black Friday...

I'm joining Perry Belcher, Jason Fladlien, Emma Rainville, and a room full of industry legends for a 24-hour livestream on November 28th.

We're calling it the Black Friday Bootcamp.

And it's NOT about buying stuff you don't need. It's about building your 2026 strategy while everyone else is fighting over doorbusters.

Perry's creating brand-new training.

Jason's revealing conversion strategies he's never shared publicly.

Emma's walking through the systems architecture that takes businesses from chaos to clarity.

Plus a bunch of surprise guests we can't name yet.

Cost? $7 for the livestream. $49 for Zoom room access. $497 for Builder tier.

And 100% goes to Christmas gifts and summer camp for 40 foster kids who desperately need it. So while ChatGPT is trying to sell you Amazon deals...

We're building something that actually MATTERS.

Both for your business AND for kids who've been forgotten. If you want in: blackfridaybootcamp.perrybelcher.com

See you there.
